Honors Scientfic Research
Class

For my Honors Mentorship class, I go to Atlanta Rehabilitation. It is a physical therapy business and my mentor is one of the therapists there. For this class I have to log my hours weekly and monthly. In addition to that, I must do weekly assignments, monthly assignments, and a final project (which is what this website is for). Most of my weekly assignments include blogging. My blog isn't just about what I learn at my mentorship, it also has entries that include learning about new things and life lessons. A link to my blog is ...

Honors Scientific Research is in a somewhat regular classroom setting, although we use technology (whether it be in the computer lab or our own electronics) almost everyday. This class helps students focus in on what they're really interested in, which, for me, is the medical field (that's why I chose stroke rehabilitation for my project). This website is for this class becuase I'm creating a final Discover project, which displays all the research I've done on whatever I'm passionate about. It will hold most all the work I've done on my Discover project this year.

This is my mentor who is a physical therapist at Atlanta Rehabilitation. He has a wife and two kids. He went to Georgia Southern University and then the University of North Georgia to get his doctorate physical therapy. He helps patients get back to their normal lives after an injury all the time. Anytime I've had a question or needed help with my project he gives me advice and tells me what he knows about strokes and stroke therapy.

I'm 17 years old and a junior at Chestatee High School. I play volleyball and tennis, and I'm in Key Club and National Honor Society. I'm also in two programs called RACE and the Honors Mentorship Program.  The RACE program stands for Reneissance Academy for Creative Interprises that helps students in a regular high school excel, and it is currently only in Chestatee High School. The Honors Mentorship Program includes students throughout the whole county, and it allows students to use 1-3 periods of their school day to go to an internship or mentorship. I mentor at Atlanta Rehabilitation and there is more information aout that under my mentor's bio.

This is a portfolio holding all the work I've done for my stroke rehabilitation project.

My essential question: How will I compare and contrast different types of strokes in order to understand and create a situation regarding a rehabilitation plan for a hypothetical stroke patient?
